So after some research, we've decided to do muffins in the terra cotta pots. We tried cooking some in the pots and found it doesn't turn out the best. So we will be cooking the muffins in lined cups and then inserting them into the pots. We will be doing a few different flavors to keep the guests happy!
UPDATE:
Decor Ideas
The Reception is going to be held at the Church's social hall. I've been told that I cannot nail/hang anything on the walls so it will be interesting to see what we come up with. There is going to be a pretty extravagant wedding there after Easter 2009 so I will see how they decorate it.
I like the look of the tulle draped lights hanging from the ceiling. If I decide to do that, I would use a hula hoop for the circle or dowels to make a square.
We also have an arch that we will be putting up. I really like the lighted look of the arch. I have strands of flower garland that I will likely add to the sides.

I bought these at a local hardware store for about $5 each. I'm hoping they will work how I envision it.
Let's Eat Cake!
FI's mother was initially going to do the wedding cake but after much thought I didn't want her to stress out and I didn't want to be stressed out. So instead I would like her to make a cake for our very simple rehearsal dinner and she is also going to be making our "1 year anniversary cake". We are using a Willow Tree cake topper because FI and I have been giving them to one another and I figured we could add it to our collection after the wedding! The only thing I'm concerned about is if we do a white frosting with the off-colored cake topper. I scoured the web for pictures and came up with a few different ideas.
Our cake will be similar to this except with a wide dark purple ribbon and a small sage green ribbon. FI wanted it to be super simple....so I got to please him!
Instead of a cake stand, I want to decorate with votives. Not sure what I will put in them yet.
